The power (On/Off) symbol is on Condom too…

The power (On/Off) symbol is on Condom too…

  We all know the symbol with a vertical line in a circle: it identifies the On/Off power switch. It occurred to me that this familiar symbol is evolving in a bizarre fashion.

Introduction
With the ever increasing growth in Electrical and Electronic appliances, people are familiar with Microwave ovens, Mobile phones, Televisions, Laptops, Washing machines, Mixer grinders etc. You may be using them frequently. Also, you may notice the symbol with a line in a broken circle on the power button. Had you ever got a doubt that “what does this symbol mean?“.  Isn`t amazing after listening that there was a connection in between the world war II and the origin of power button symbol. Here is an interesting fact about the origin of the power button symbol.
Initially, switches had a lever or slider that could move to either of two physical positions ON and OFF. You may also notice a word POWER on the switch. Later, two words were replaced with I and O. we have to toggle between on and off. As a result, there are different I and O.

On off switch tabs
But after the evolution of microprocessors, switches were made more economic with a simple pushbutton switch. The computer inside could take care of figuring whether you meant ON or OFF. After this invention, there arose a necessity for an icon that conveys both on and off options. There comes the utilization of a fact that engineers used the binary system to label power button during World War II.
In binary systems, 1 means “on” and 0 mean “off.”

Binary o and 1 in electric circuits

In 1973, the symbol in which 1 and 0 were superimposed was standardized as the power button symbol by the International Electro technical Commission (IEC). ON/OFF can be identified by the color represented by the power button.

Here is one more interesting fact about this symbol. You will never look at the symbol after knowing this information. This symbol is also used as a power on indication on NYC condom wrapper.

Mobiles in the Airplane transit

Mobiles in the Airplane transit
Many people believe that a phone’s signal can interfere with a plane’s electrical and telecommunication systems and cause a plane to crash.
 Is it true? …. Let’s find out what exactly happens when passengers or crew don’t switch their phones to Airplane mode during a flight!
This Is What Happens When You Don’t Switch Your Phone To Airplane Mode While Flying
When you fly, the minute you’re on board, you make sure your phone is on airplane mode. And it’s a standard practice to be told by flight attendants to switch your devices to airplane mode during transit. But, have you ever wondered what would happen if you don’t follow directions and didn’t put your phone on flight mode when you’re up in the air?

Many people believe that a phone’s signal can interfere with a plane’s electrical and telecommunication systems and cause a plane to crash.

 Is it true? …. Let’s find out what exactly happens when passengers or crew don’t switch their phones to Airplane mode during a flight!

There is no evidence that signals from passengers’ electronic devices have ever caused a plane to malfunction and crash. The reason for potential safety concerns is due to the fact that when you’re more than 10,000 feet in the air, your cell phone signal bounces off multiple towers and sends out a stronger signal. This is something that might congest the networks on the ground. But, there has never been a case of a cell phone causing a plane to crash.

Man sitting on an airplane holding smartphone
In a blog post for Airline Updates, a pilot said that transmitting mobiles can cause audible interference on an aircraft’s radios, but it is rare. He said: “Your phone will probably annoy a few pilots and air traffic controllers.  But, most likely, not badly enough for them to take action against you if that’s what you want to know.”

“You may have heard that unpleasant noise from an audio system that occasionally happens when a mobile phone is nearby. I actually heard such noise on the radio while flying. It is not safety critical, but is annoying for sure.”

However, he also continues by saying that if 50 people on the plane did not turn their phone onto airplane mode, it would cause a lot of “radio pollution“.

What Happens When You Don't Switch Your Phone To Airplane Mode While Flying?

An engineer named ‘Coenraad Loubser’ said on Quora: “To compound matters, the weaker the signal your cell phone picks up from the tower, the more it amplifies its signal to try and get a response (and the more battery it uses). Planes with onboard cell coverage, allow your phone to communicate using very low power, or Wi-Fi. When you put your phone in Airplane mode, the GSM/3G Radio inside your phone is completely disabled and you can still use the phone for other functions.”

Maintaining a journal or dairy can be great fun!

Maintaining a journal or dairy can be great fun!
Been on a road trip and loved it, but wished you could preserve that memory with you forever?
 Watched a movie and wished your friend had been with you, so that you could share your review or beautiful experience about the movie. What can be better than writing it down in your journal? But if think you are not one of those who prefer writing journal?
Well you need not be, because Journal writing is not just restricted to writing daily routines or writing every
detail of the day, Journal writing can relate to sharing and writing about such moments which you wish to capture in your book, so that every time to read it, you refresh your memory about those days.

How to make journal writing a habit?

Sources;
For many people who don’t patience to write, journal writing can be a very difficult task. But it is only a count of few days, after which journal writing can become a very interesting habit. Journal and pen are traditional ways of writing journal, however these days we also have options of using digital dairies like My-dairy.org.  Digital dairies come with a benefit of spell check, but for traditional dairy users, merriam-webster.com can always be quick reference for checking spelling and synonyms.

Fun at convenience;
For making journal writing fun, make it a point not to force yourself into writing something which does not interest you, like regular routine or daily insights about the day. Always keep your journal and pen accessible, so that you can quickly write down points when you feel like doing so. If you are more digital savvy then consider using a tablet instead of a dairy, as it would be more portable for you to carry it along. Make sure to use deals or coupons before purchasing any electronic devices.

Snippet for details;
If you don’t have time, yet you wish to write down an incident or ideas instead of writing details you can simply jot down important points in form of short words. So whenever you get some spare time, you can write your experience or thoughts in detail without having to miss onto the important points. Never give up writing only because you did not like your last write up.

Express the way what you are;
 Please understand that you are not a professional writer, so you can allow yourself to do few mistakes. With time you might understand how to write in a precise manner. You can always refer sites like Ezinearticles.com, where many writers like you share their writings; this will help you understand how you can write down things in a simple and more expressive way. Journal writing is way of disciplining your way of expressing yourself, so this might take little time and challenge but once it becomes a habit, you might love to carry your journal everywhere you go.

Conclusion;
Beauty of life does not abide in living in past or future, it abides in the present moment, so allow yourself to enjoy the present moment and let your journal be the keeper of that beautiful memory.

Erotic sculptures on the temple walls

 Erotic sculptures on the temple  walls

Hindu-Temples:
Thapi Dharma Rao (1887-1973) book
cover page.
Why Does Hindu Temple Walls and Other Structures Have Sex Sculptures and Architecture ?

Hindu religion is one of the largest religions which is followed by millions across globe and has its roots relating to early inception of humans and civilization on earth. Temples of Hindu have been often denoted as the replicas of the cosmology of the universe
As per the spiritual and religious manuscripts and Vedas it has been stated that the architecture and the sculptures of a temple not only limns the cosmology of the universe but explicitly portrays sensual material pleasures on their walls, which conveys the point that we do not have to get distracted by these temptations and should move forward single mindedly towards the Lord and Almighty.

Nudity has always been associated with renunciation in spirituality in most of largest religions which have been followed my many across the world. India’s highly followed spiritual and motivational leader Vivekananda said “Unless you are spiritually mature enough, don’t read Raslila, because you are going to mis read it” Hence we can conclude that for the uninformed vision these depictions of erotic sculptures may appear vulgar, but to the informed one they are replicas of the soul’s spiritual journey towards God which can be claimed as the first point and the primary understanding. Here are some of the temples which are well known for the erotic sculptures and architecture.

Here are the some temples mentioned having sex sculptures.....

1)Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh
Khajuraoo-Madya Pradesh
Khajuraho temple has been built by Chandelle Kings in Madhya Pradesh. Ancient sources claim that chandelle Kings were greatly acted upon by the Tantric traditions while this temple is believed to be symbolize the ultimate seductress. Sculptures and the architecture of the temple made with the fine sandstone are well rounded finish while the later ones are more angular. Khajuraho temple sculptures twisting, broad hipped and high breasted nymphs, fleshy apsaras and extravagantly interlocked maithunas run riot along the surface of stone were described as “the apogee of erotic art” by the Mc Connachie in his history of the

Kamasutra.
Watch the sound and light show for an interesting perspective on Khajuraho. We would suggest you all to visit Khajuraho temple during the Khajuraho Dance Festival in the first week of February.

2) Markandeshwar Temple, Maharashtra
Markandeshwar temple is located by the River Wainganga, with sprinkling of erotic art. Ancient sources claim that temple has been built by danavas (evil forces) in one night with stone in Hemadpanth architecture. Devotees come in large from far and wide during the Mahashivratri annual fair every year. Best time to visit the temple would be during the celebrations of Mahashivratri hiring a car from Nagpur. Although there are other ways to reach out the holy destination that is by bus and auto.

Orrisa’s Sun Temple is another well-known temple for the abundant titillating sculptures after Khajuraho temple. There are many artistic sculptures which pass on a message of ancestors to the younger generations and the devotees with the scenes of polygamy, polyandry and lesbian love. Sun Temples name ‘Konark’ has been named after the combination of Kona (corner) and Arka (Sun).  One of the eye catchy monuments of
over here at the Sun Temple is Sun God on a colossal chariot drawn by seven horses which is usually referred as an architectural genius. We commend travelers and people willing to visit Konark Temple in Orissa to also visit the Konark Archaeological Museum nearby that contains fallen sculptures from the temple.

Sun Temple, Gujarat
Sun-temple-gujarat
Sun Temple of Gujarat is yet another magnificent place which clearly depicts the brilliant architecture of India. People and other ancient sources of the place claim that Lord Rama conducted a yagna here to purify himself of the sin of killing a Brahmana-Ravana. Architecture of Konark Temple of Gujarat is such that it catches first rays of the rising sun like Konark Temple of Orissa. Apart from the temple’s architecture what could be more watchable is the perfectly designed Kama Kunda (water tank) meant for ablutions and for a reflection of the temple in the water.

Amazing Inventions of Ancient Indian Saints..

Amazing Inventions Of Ancient Indian Saints;

Introduction
 The land of India  was one of the most advanced regions in various fields of science, mathematics, medicine, astronomy, numerology, etc. We feel extremely proud when we come to know that we do belong to this mysterious land of discoveries, lords, saints, gurus, and Talismanic adventures. However, many ancient inventions were forgotten, lost to the pages of history, only to be re-invented millennia later, and came to be known as modern science. Every law which was scientifically proven now were already written there about 2000 BC years before.

Here we will introduce you with a few names of saints and their work, inventions and discoveries which you till now believed to be the works of foreign scientists. Read on to know about these saints and their inventions.

1). Bhaskaracharya Stated Law of Gravity:
We all are well familiar with the fact of objects falling on earth, which is known as Law of Gravity. Today, in modern times, the credit of discovering this law of gravity is given to Newton. However, hardly a few people know that discovery of gravity was first made by Indian saint Bhaskaracharya around 1200 years ago (Surya Siddhanta, dated 400-500 AD). Sir Isaac Newton rediscovered this phenomenon later in1687 AD and called it the Newton’s Law of Gravity.

Bhaskaracharya - Amazing Inventions
Born in the obscure village of Vijjadit (Jalgaon) in Maharastra, Hindu astronomer Bhaskaracharya’s mathematical works called “Lilavati” and “Bijaganita” are considered to be unparalleled. In his treatise “Siddhant Shiromani” he writes on planetary positions, eclipses, cosmography, mathematical techniques and astronomical equipment. In the “Surya Siddhant,” he makes a note on the force of gravity.

2). Aacharya Kanada developed Atomic Theory:
John Dalton (1766 – 1844), an English chemist and physicist, is the man credited today with the development of Atomic theory that we are studying now. It is quite interesting to know that this Atomic theory was originated 2, 600 years back by our Indian sage and philosopher, known as Acharya Kanad. He had stated that the “anu (atom) was an indestructible particle of matter.

Aacharya kanada - Amazing Inventions Of Ancient Indian Saints
An interesting story states that this theory occurred to him while he was walking with food in his hand. As he nibbled at the food in his hand, throwing away the small particles, it occurred to him that he could not divide the food into further parts and thus the idea of a matter which cannot be divided further came into existence. He called that indivisible matter ‘Anu,’ i.e. molecule, which was misinterpreted as an atom. He also stated that Anu can have two states – Absolute rest and a State of motion.

3). Acharya Sushruta – Cataract surgery and Plastic surgery:
Cataract surgery and plastic surgery were also first performed by the ancient physician Sushruta. He used a curved needle and removed the cataract by pushing the lens. The eyes were then immersed in warm butter and were properly covered until they were completely healed. Usage of anesthesia was also well known in ancient India. People from far off countries came to India to seek treatment.

Acharya Sushruta - Amazing Inventions Of Ancient Indian Saints
Born to sage Vishwamitra, Sushruta is the father of surgery. 2600 years ago, he along with the health scientists of his time conducted complicated surgeries like artificial limbs, cesareans, cataract, Rhinoplasty (restoration of a damaged nose), urinary stones, and 6 types of dislocations, 12 types of fractures, plastic surgery and even brain surgery. He is the author of the book “Sushruta Samhita”, in which he describes over 300 surgical procedures and 125 surgical instruments. Sushruta’s work was later translated into Arabic language and gradually passed on to European countries.

4.)  Aryabhatta who invented ZERO:
We can’t do mathematics without ‘0’ as it plays a crucial role in arithmetics. The master Astronomer and Mathematician ‘Aryabhatta’ contributed towards the invention of ‘0’ in ‘Aryabhatta’s Bhakshali’ manuscript and thus, zero came into existence.

Aryabhatta - Amazing Inventions Of Ancient Indian Saints
About many decades before when someone don’t even know that what is earth, he stated that the earth round in nature and explains the motion of planets as well. In 499 CE, he wrote a text on astronomy and an unparallel treatise on mathematics called “Aryabhatiyam.” He formulated the process of calculating the motion of planets and the time of eclipses. Aryabhatt was the first to proclaim that the earth is round, it rotates on its axis, orbits the sun and is suspended in space – 1,000 years before Copernicus published his heliocentric theory.

5.) Acharya Charak: Father of Medicine:
Acharya Charak has been crowned as the Father of Medicine for his renowned work, the “Charak Samhita,” is considered as an encyclopedia of Ayurveda. In ancient India, when people succumbed to illness and diseases like obesity, diabetes, etc, Acharya Charak contributed in diagnosing these and provided Ayurvedic solutions.

Aacharya charak - Amazing Inventions

His principles, diagnoses, and cures retain their potency and truth even after a couple of millennium. When the science of anatomy was confused with different theories in Europe, Acharya Charak revealed the facts on human anatomy, blood circulation, embryology, pharmacology, and diseases like diabetes, heart disease, tuberculosis, etc.

In his book “Charak Samhita,” he has described the medicinal qualities and functions of 100,000 herbal plants. He has emphasized the influence of our diet and physical activities over our mind, which is even practiced by our today’s generation. He has proved the correlation between spirituality and physical health contributed greatly to diagnostic and curative sciences. He has also prescribed the ethical charter for medical practitioners two centuries prior to the Oath. Through his genius and intuition, Acharya Charak forever remains etched in the annals of history as one of the greatest and noblest of rishi-scientists.

6). Patanjali: Father of Yoga:
The Science of Yoga is one of the several unique contributions of India to the world. Our present generation is quite fond of fitness, and yoga is one of the famous physical activities among all. It is the method to discover peace and fitness all at the same time through yogic practices.
Patanjali - Amazing Inventions Of Ancient Indian Saints

Acharya Patanjali prescribed the control of prana (life breath) as the means to control the body, mind, and soul. This subsequently rewards one with good health and inner happiness. His 84 yogic postures effectively enhance the efficiency of the respiratory, circulatory, nervous, digestive and endocrine systems and many other organs of the body.

7.) Saint Bharadwaj – Vymaanika Shaastra:
In modern times, the Wright Brothers invented the airplane. However, according to Hindu religious beliefs, Saint Bharadwaj had invented an equipment that could vanish the airplane, through his Vayushastras, He had also revealed the secrets of traveling from one planet to the other.

Bharadwaj - Amazing Inventions Of Ancient Indian Saints
In 1875, the Vymaanika-Shaastra, a fourth century BC text written by Maharshi Bhardwaj, was discovered in a temple in India. The book dealt with the operation of ancient vimanas and included information on steering, precautions for long flights, protection of the airships from storms and lightning, and how to switch the drive to solar energy, or some other “free energy” source. Vimanas were said to take off vertically or dirigible. Bharadwaj refers to no less than 70 authorities and 10 experts of air travel in antiquity.

8). Varahamihira: Panch siddhant:
Varahamihir’s book “panch siddhant,” noted that the moon and planets are lustrous not because of their own light but due to sunlight. In the “Bruhad Samhita” and “Bruhad Jatak”, he has also revealed his discoveries in the domains of science, constellation, geography, botany and animal science. In his treatise on botanical science, Varahamihir presents cures for various diseases afflicting plants and trees.

Varahamihira - Amazing Inventions Of Ancient Indian Saints

After all these facts and figures about our saints and their contribution towards science, I am sure you will feel proud to be an Indian and let other people tell that not all inventions are done by foreign scientists.

' Toothpaste' and its other 15 uses...

Tooth paste;
Every morning and night, you squeeze a small amount of toothpaste onto your toothbrush. But have you ever wondered what is in toothpaste that makes it clean your teeth? Most toothpastes share common ingredients, both active and inactive.

Both Active and inactive ingredients are categorized as 1) Fluorides 2) Flavors 3) Humectants 4)Detergents 5) Abrasives .Among  these five  ingredients Fluorides are active and the rest are  inactive
.
1)    Fluoride is an Active ingredient is that helps to fight cavities and reduce your risk of gum disease. When it comes to fighting cavities, fluoride plays a starring role. The American Dental Association (ADA) Mouth Healthy site has stated that this common ingredient is "nature's cavity fighter." It's a mineral that helps strengthen the enamel on your teeth.

(14) Removing pimples from your face
2)    Flavors Toothpaste flavors typically come from sweetening agents, such as saccharin or sorbitol. Some toothpaste, such as Colgate® 2in1, are even fruit-flavored for children's use. Although these ingredients give the toothpaste a sweet taste, it's important to note that these toothpastes don't contain sugar and thus won't cause tooth decay. The ADA may give its Seal of Acceptance to toothpastes with sweeteners, but it will not sign off on toothpaste that contains decay-causing sugar.

3)    Humectants are some of those flavoring agents, like sorbitol, actually play two roles. Sorbitol is an example of a humectant, an ingredient that prevents loss of watering the toothpaste. A humectant traps water in the toothpaste so that when you squeeze the tube, you get a nice, smooth substance. Along with sorbitol, other examples of humectants include glycol and glycerol.

4) Detergents are important to have detergents in toothpaste because they help to provide foaming to occur when you brush your teeth. One of the most common detergents placed in toothpastes is sodium lauryl sulfate.

5) Abrasives are the ingredients that actually remove food debris and stains from teeth.
(10)Removing crayon stains on the painted walls
Today's abrasives are a bit gentler and typically include calcium carbonate, dehydrated silicia gels and hydrated aluminum oxides. The goal of the abrasive ingredients in modern toothpaste is to scrub the surface of the teeth without scratching or damaging your tooth's enamel besides all these multiple  uses given below.

If we are Using Toothpaste Only for Brushing, we are Missing Out these 15 Other Ways It Can Be Used For!

A 12-year old girl crossed Einstein IQ

Introduction;
Huge amounts of research have been done on IQ - intelligence quotient (IQ)t- and many claims made about it. Holidays and junk food can make IQ drop. .. while being breastfeed  a big- head can make it go up. These are just a few  assertions discussed in an article.
IQ tests as we know them today were developed in the early 1900s, the first being the Stanford-Binet intelligence scales. Many have since been developed and measure slightly different things, say psychologists. The Stanford-Binet and the Wechsler intelligence scales remain the most popular.

Lidiya Sebstain;
A 12-year-old London resident of Indian origin scored highest on Mensa IQ Test and set new record. Her name is Lidiya Sebastian. She was born and brought up in London. She stood the person with highest Intelligence Quotient when she attempted Mensa IQ test. Lidiya crossed the IQ levels of popular scientists like Albert Einstein, Stephen Hawkings and others, said management of Mensa who conducted the test.

1
1)Einstein , 2)Hawkings, 3)Lidiya Sebstain
Einstein and Hawkings scored an IQ of 160 on Mensa’s IQ test but Lidiya defeated them with the highest IQ of 162. Thus she joined the one per cent of all entrants of Mensa, an organization for people who score highest IQ scores with 98 percentile or higher. Lidiya attained highest marks in the Cattell III B exam conducted by Mensa in London. Cattell III B consists of 150 questions. Lidiya’s father Arun Sebastian is a radiologist in Colchester general hospital. He mentioned that Lidiya participated in various IQ tests online.

What is IQ?
IQ Is the acronym for intelligent quotient, and refers to a score given for several standardized intelligence tests. The first of these was developed by French psychologist Alfred Binet in 1905. He constructed the IQ test, as it would lafter be called, to determine which children might need additional help in scholarly pursuits. Today, the IQ test is commonly based on some model of the Stanford Binet Intelligence scale.
The term ‘intelligence quotient’ was first coined in 1912 by German psychologist, William STERN who wanted to identify students that needed special help with the school curriculum.

The original formula for calculating IQ was:
(mental age divided by chronological age) x 100
In other words, a person’s intelligence level was measured as a quotient of their estimated mental age and chronological age. A 10-year-old child that had the mental age of a 12-year-old was considered to have an above average IQ of 120 [(12/10) x 100]

Chronological Age;
Chronological age is a measure of an individual's age based on the calendar date on which he or she was born. Chronological age is calculated on most psychological tests. It is measured in days, months and years. For example, let's say that you were born on July 22, 1990, and the day that you took the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale was February 21, 2013. Your chronological age on the date of testing would be 22 years, 6 months and 30 days

Mental age;
Mental age is the age level of an individual's mental ability. It is based on the age in which it takes an average individual to reach that same level of mental attainment. Mental age is usually measured by standardized intelligence tests. For example, early versions of the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scales calculated a mental age based on how well a child performed on the test
.
Chronological Age Vs Mental Age;
When people ask how old you are, they are asking for your chronological age. Your chronological age is based on the date you born.
Your mental age is based on your intellectual development. If these  two are same you were said to be average intellectual Quotient
,
What is Mensa?
Mensa IQ was founded in England in 1946.The only one popular Mensa IQ society conducted IQ tests for bright people every walk of life with the objective of enjoying each other's company and participating in a wide range of social and cultural activities in the international arena.
What are Mensa's goals?

Mensa has three stated purposes:
1     to identify and foster human intelligence for the benefit of humanity,

  2      to encourage research in the nature, characteristics and uses of intelligence, and

3       to promote stimulating intellectual and social opportunities all over world.

Is Sun salutation (Surya namaskar) communal ?

 Introduction;
Sun Salutation is popularly known as Surya Namaskar. Namaskar  is a kind of praise of oneself by another. Surya Namaskar is praise of Sun in the form of Bheeja Mantras/Slokas with certain poses facing towards Sun.
We carry this tradition from the ancient period. It is belief the Sun God would do something good for us.

Now it has been transferred to practice in the form of Aasanas / poses in the YOGA to make our health  good. It is not belief. It is proved   practice of Surya Namaskar as yoga. The belief has been turning towards truth…

Communal / Universal;
In modern theory of physics and astronomy,  Sun is planet. Most of the planets in the Universe revolves and rotate round the Sun planet like a family head and family members. So Sun is not a God.

Sun gives us light. Sun gives us energy. Sun gives us food and everything.
No human being to be expected on the Earth planet with no idea of Sun. So Sun is God.

Who is God....? Who will be God...? There is no common clear cut definition. It is belief that will be vary from person to person. But light, energy, food which comes from the Planet Sun directly or indirectly  to everybody in common to live on the Earth irrespective of Religion, Race, Caste and Sect Etc.
So sun is not communal. Sun is universal

Origin of Surya namaskar;
Surya Namaskar has been practiced in India for many centuries as a ritual in the form of worship to the Sun God. When and how did it originate? Well, here is one story that relates to Hanuman, the monkey warrior of the epic, Ramayana, that I’m sure you will find fascinating.

In the meantime, Hanuman, as a growing child, needed an education. His mother, Anjana, instructed him to approach sun, the perennial teacher, to teach him about all sacred scriptures. Initially, the sun refused Hanuman’s request stating that it is not possible to learn from him as he is constantly on the move. Hanuman insisted and assured the sun that he would keep pace with the sun while getting his education. The sun agreed and imparted all the knowledge of the vedas and other shastras to Hanuman. In gratitude, Hanuman offered to pay his "guru dakshina" (traditional fee for the teacher) but the sun refused. Hanuman then decided to propitiate his teacher through the practice of Surya Namaskar which he dedicated to the sun and began practicing it regularly. That is how the practice of Surya Namaskar was born.

The only God the Sun  for all;
 5,000 years ago, people “worshipped’ the sun- “Ra”, the sun-god, who was considered the first king of Egypt. In Mesopotamia, the sun-god Shamash was a major deity and was equated with justice. In Greece there were two sun deities,  Apollo and Helios. The influence of the sun also appears in other religions -Zoroastrianism, Mithraism, Roman religion, Buddism, the Druids of England, and  Aztecs of Mexico, the in case of Peru, and many Native  American tribes. So Sun is not considered as a god only by Hindus.

 Beyond Surya Namaskar;
If it is done in the early morning facing the sun, one gets vitamin D. Only to that extent Surya Namaskara is related to the sun. Surya Namaskara has nothing to do with sun. One can do it in the night also. It is the best part of YOGA.

SURYA NAMASKARA ONLY for NAME SAKE
There is something called CHANDRA NAMASKARA also in YOGA. That doesn’t mean that we will wait for the moon to be seen, practice chandra namaskara in the presence of moon and then sleep. Most of the Yogasanas are named after the things in nature. Many are named after animals. These were named  so because people can remember and recall them easily. Mind you that these names came up even before the birth of Islam,Christianity and Hinduism. Surya Namaskara is named so because it starts with pranama mudra. Since it involves  12 multiple  Aasanas, These 12 multiple Asanas transformed in to 12 steps in the present YOGA Saastra. it could be named after any natural object. And if done in the early morning facing the sun, there are many benefits to the skin and body

Facing your Face East;
Facing your Face towards East in Sun salutation is not compulsory. If you don’t want to salute the sun- you can simply skip that step or  needn’t pray the sun or you can pray the god you wish. Most of those who practice surya namaskara don’t even face the east during the practice. Many others don’t even remember the SUN while doing that. Many do it indoors. So there is no point of saluting the sun.  All they care is about their health. So, when the whole world is practicing SURYA NAMASKARA in the name of SUN SALUTATION, lets not make it a matter of controversy in its birth place. Yoga is a science and let people benefit from science.
Surya Namaskara is the best part of YOGA. It can be done in very less time and gives the greatest benefit.”Surya Namaskar stretches the muscles, makes the joints limber and strong, bones stronger and ligaments more flexible, and improves balance and posture”

is slavery a part of Life....?

Slavery
Hand-cuffs not allowed to do independently

Is slavery a part of life…..? yes…… It lives in the minds of people since it was introduced in the society. Even the Bible didn’t condemn the nature of slavery. There are many passages in the Bible that refer to and acknowledge slavery as a common experience.

Here are few examples from Bible:

1 Now Sarai, Abram’s wife, had borne him no children. But she had an Egyptian slave named Hagar;

 2 so she said to Abram, “The Lord has kept me from having children. Go, sleep with my slave; perhaps I can build a family through her.”
Genesis 16:1-2

44 “‘Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves.

45 You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property.

46 You can bequeath them to your children as inherited property and can make them slaves for life, but you must not rule over your fellow Israelites ruthlessly.
Leviticus 25:44-46

Slavery Undermined

 While the Bible acknowledges slavery as an institution -- especially in the Old Testament…. It's an unfortunate fact that no verses in the Bible directly condemn the practice of slavery. As we've seen, slavery was a major institution of the culture in the ancient world, and God did not  seek to abolish it immediately through His inspired Word. We do not understand why this should be so, but we must be honest about the facts.

Slavery in British Empire
In the modern world we could find slave features in many countries which were ruled by European empires. Their rules and regulations especially tax impositions turned most the people into slaves. At the time the countries like America (1776). India (1947), North Korea and most colonial countries got their Independence; then there the slavery was noticed mostly.

Harriet Beecher Stowe
The independent rulers of their own democratic countries have been trying to abolish the demon quality of slavery. But it penetrates in to the society using the seeds left by the British Empire simultaneously.
The anti-slavery novel “Uncle Tom’s Cabin”(1852) written by Harriet Beecher Stowe led to a civil war to abolish slavery  in America during the period  1861 to 1865. There is no such evidence  to fight against slavery in India.  The social reformers and democratic rulers of India put greater effort to eliminate such evil quality from the Indian society.

What is slavery?
Slavery refers to a condition in which individuals are owned by others who control where they live and what they work. Slavery had previously existed throughout history in many times in most places Greeks. Romans etc.

A chatter slave is enslaved person who is owned for ever and whose children and children’s children are automatically enslaved. Chatter slaves are individual are treated as complete property to be bought and sold.
Slavery in the civilized world
Fundamental cause:Poverty, migration, lack of access to quality education, unemployed parents are some reasons that force children into labour depriving them of their right to education, development- and a childhood.
Slavery is everywhere in India. It’s at brick kilns, rice mills, embroidery factories, quarries and farms. It’s in roadside brothels and private homes.
The Global Slavery Index 2013 was compiled by Australian-based rights organization Walk Free Foundation on the basis of debt bondage, forced marriage and sale or exploitation of children, human trafficking and forced labour
 India has the highest number of people in the world trapped in modern slavery with 18.35 million victims of forced labour. Activities ranging from prostitution to begging fall under this category, according to a new report.

The report estimates that nearly 46 million people are enslaved globally.Behind India was China (3.39 million), Pakistan (2.13 million), Bangladesh (1.53 million) and Uzbekistan (1.23 million). The index said that these five countries combined accounted for almost 58 percent of the world’s enslaved, or 26.6 million people.

According to the 2016 Global Slavery Index, released by Australia-based human rights group Walk Free Foundation on, an estimated 45.8 million people, including women and children, are subject to some form of modern slavery in the world, compared to 35.8 million in 2014.

With over 14.2 million in India being involved in forced labour and being victims of trafficking - for sexual exploitation and forced marriage, the country is home to the largest number of people trapped in modern slavery. Globally, 35.8 million people are enslaved across the world. Of them, 23.5 million people are in Asia, two-thirds of global total in 2014 (65.8%).

slavery in India & Pakistan
The Global Slavery Index 2014 announced  that India and Pakistan alone account for over 45% of total global enslaved population and have highest prevalence of modern slavery in Asia.

The Index said, "Particularly in countries such as India and Pakistan, nationals - often including entire families - are enslaved through bonded labour in construction, agriculture, brick making, garment factories and manufacturing units.

Conclusion;
I know a lot of people who mistakenly believe that slavery is an issue for the past -- that While the Bible acknowledges slavery as an institution -- especially in the Old Testament at the practice of slavery ended around the time Abraham Lincoln was still alive. It didn't. Slavery is still a major evil that affects millions of people in the modern world -- so much so that more people are forcibly enslaved right now than at any other moment in history.
